Best Matrimony Site: How to Judge One in 10 Minutes
A rapid six-check protocol. Test any matrimonial site against your real criteria before investing weeks. Includes a 30-point scoring sheet and what pass and fail look like at each step.

Why user counts and testimonials do not help
The homepage of every matrimonial site claims millions of users and features success-story couples. These are the least reliable signals. User counts are unaudited and typically include dormant accounts. Testimonials are curated. Neither tells you whether the site works for you specifically.
The evaluation protocol below takes ten minutes and requires no purchase. Run it before creating an account, before uploading a photo, and definitely before paying.
The six checks
Check 1: Search with your real criteria (5 pts)
Open the browse or search page. Filter by your actual criteria: city, age range, gender, education, marital status, biradari or community if the site supports it. Count how many results you get.
Fail: Fewer than 20 results, no way to see activity, or the same 10 profiles appear no matter how you filter.
Check 2: Recent-activity ratio (5 pts)
Scan the top 20 results. How many show a "last active" or "joined recently" indicator? A serious platform surfaces this.
Fail: No visible activity indicator, or all profiles show "1+ year" or nothing.
Check 3: Stranger photo view (5 pts)
Open a profile in an incognito or private browser window (not logged in). Can you see the person's photo? Their full name? Any private details?
Fail: Full photo visible to guests, full name shown, any private information leaked.
Check 4: Privacy policy data-sharing clause (5 pts)
Find the privacy policy link (usually in the footer). Search the page for "share", "third party", or "partner". Read what the site does with your data.
Fail: Site permits sharing with "marketing partners", "advertisers", or "affiliates", or has no privacy policy at all.
Check 5: Reporting and blocking flow (5 pts)
Open any profile. Look for a "Report" or "Block" button or link. Click it. What happens?
Fail: No visible reporting mechanism, or reporting goes to a generic "contact us" form with no SLA.
Check 6: Physical address and working support (5 pts)
Scroll to the footer. Is there a physical address? A working phone number or a support email? Try emailing the support address with a simple question.
Fail: No address, generic gmail address, no response after 5 business days.
The 30-point scoring sheet
Score each check 0-5. Total /30.
| Score | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| 25-30 | Serious platform, invest time. |
| 18-24 | Usable but with gaps; note which checks failed and compensate manually. |
| 10-17 | Early-stage or thin; use only if the specific gap is not one you care about. |
| Below 10 | Do not use. The site is not built for a serious search. |
What testimonials and user counts actually hide
- Success stories are curated. Every platform has some; that says nothing about the median user experience.
- User counts are unaudited. A site claiming "3 million users" may have 300k active accounts and 2.7m dormant.
- Ratings and reviews are gamed. Fake reviews are cheap.
- Award badges are decorative. Most industry awards for matrimonial sites are paid marketing placements.
The six-check protocol bypasses all of these because it tests behaviour, not claims.
